Theologians call the process leading to personal holiness sanctification. The Holy Spirit is transforming our lives from the moment we are born again until we receive glorification in death. The Spirit’s work is designed to restore the full image of God in us, making us like Christ. The Spirit transforms our attitudes, interests, and actions, while confronting our internal drive toward selfishness and sin. This is often called initial and progressive sanctification.
